Privacy and Disclosures

What we collect

We keep data collection to a minimum. There are two kinds:

• Information you give us. When you subscribe to our newsletter, we store the email address you provide. When you send a message through our contact form, we receive what you write and the email you reply from.
• Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we gather basic, aggregate analytics as you browse: which pages get visited, the general region a visit comes from, and the device and browser type. This shows us what content is useful. It does not tell us who you are by name.

How we use your information

We use it for a short list of things: to send the monthly email you signed up for, to reply to messages you send us, to understand which guides and tools people find helpful so we can make more of them, and to keep the site secure and running. That is the whole list. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it to anyone.

Cookies, analytics, and ad measurement

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use a small number of them for basic site function and for the aggregate analytics described above. You can block or delete cookies anytime in your browser settings, and the site will still work. Our visitor statistics are handled through Jetpack, a service from Automattic, the company that also powers our hosting. The newsletter signup forms on our pages are powered by a script from Brevo, our email provider.

If we advertise Grow My Pile on platforms like Reddit or X, those platforms may use a small measurement pixel on our pages to tell whether a visit or signup came from one of our ads. That is campaign measurement so we know whether the ads are worth running. It is not a sale of your information, and you can block these with standard browser privacy tools without breaking the site.

The services we rely on

Running a site takes a few trusted providers, and some of them process limited data on our behalf under their own privacy terms:

• WordPress.com and Automattic. Our site is hosted and powered by WordPress.com. Their systems handle the technical delivery of the pages you read.
• Jetpack. We use Jetpack for our visitor statistics.
• Brevo. Our email provider. When you subscribe, your email address is stored with Brevo, which sends our emails on our behalf and handles unsubscribes.
• Affiliate partners. When you click certain links, the destination company may set its own cookie to credit us for the referral. That is covered in the disclosure section below.

We choose established providers, but we do not control their systems, so their handling of data falls under their own policies.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not trade it. We share data only with the service providers above that help us operate, and only as much as they need to do their job. The one other case is the rare legal one: if we were ever required by law to disclose information, we would comply, while protecting your privacy as far as we can.

Your choices and your rights

You stay in control of your data with us:

• Unsubscribe anytime. Every email we send has a one click unsubscribe link at the bottom. Use it whenever you like and the emails stop.
• See, correct, or delete your data. Send us a message and we will tell you what we hold, fix anything wrong, or delete it on request.
• Control cookies. Your browser lets you block or clear cookies whenever you want.

Depending on where you live, for example California, the United Kingdom, or the European Economic Area, you may have additional legal rights over your data. We honor those requests. Just reach out through our contact page.

How long we keep it

We keep your subscription details for as long as you stay subscribed, and no longer than needed once you leave. Messages you send us are kept only while we handle your request and for a reasonable window after, then cleared.

Children’s privacy

Grow My Pile is written for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will remove it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the limited information we hold, and we lean on the security of established providers like WordPress.com. No website can promise perfect security, though, which is one more reason we keep what we collect small on purpose.

Changes to this policy

If we update how we handle data, we will revise this page and change the date at the top. Meaningful changes will be easy to spot right here.

How we make money (affiliate disclosure)

Grow My Pile is free to read, and we keep it that way partly through affiliate partnerships. Some of the links to products we mention, for example a savings account or a brokerage, are affiliate links. If you click one and open an account or make a purchase, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra, and the price you get is the same as going direct. We only ever feature things we would be comfortable using ourselves, and a commission never buys a better review or a higher ranking.

Editorial independence

Our guides, reviews, and rankings are our own work and reflect our honest assessment. Advertisers and affiliate partners do not get to influence what we say, change our ratings, or approve our content before it runs. If a company we partner with makes a weak product, we will say so. If that independence ever changed, you would read about it here first.

Not financial advice

This is the important one. Everything on Grow My Pile is educational and general in nature. It is not personalized financial, investment, legal, or tax advice, and it does not account for your specific situation. Investing carries risk, including the possible loss of the money you put in, and past performance never guarantees future results. On rates and accuracy

We work hard to keep numbers, rates, and rules current, and we note when figures reflect a given year. Even so, this information changes constantly. Always confirm the current details with the provider or a qualified source before you act on them.
